March is National Nutrition Month. This is a good time to re-evaluate your diet. The Scientific Report of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee recently came out with their report and said that Americans are not getting enough fruits, whole grains, and vegetables. The average diet is also too high in sodium, calories, added sugars, and refined grains.
Tools:
It can be difficult to keep up with the nutrition guidelines, so here’s some resources you can use.
- The SuperTracker is a great tool to use. You can see if you are meeting the US dietary guidelines from the foods you eat everyday.
- The eat right website can help you come up with ideas for improving your diet.
- Choosemyyplate.gov is also a helpful website with information on how to eat healthier.
- Finally, here’s another great resource from Harvard.
Good luck!
