Can low carb diets reduce inflammation? A recent study divided patients with Type II diabetes (and high inflammation levels) into two dietary groups: low-carb and low-fat. The low-carb group was instructed to get 20% of their calories from carbohydrates, while the low-fat group was instructed to get between 55% and 60% of their energy from carbohydrates.
While participants in both groups lost a similar amount of weight, only the low-carb group saw significant reductions in inflammatory markers. So, you might want to rethink that next slice of bread!
